Vassilis Sardelis (aka Rendeece) has created his own personal approach to Tarot Theater. Theatrical plays (previous projects were based on Goethe’s “Faust”, Samuel Beckett’s “Endgame”, Sophocles’ “Oedipus”) are the “prima materia” for electronic synthesis and studio work, while various Tarot cards (Tarot de Marseilles, Dali’s Tarot, etc.) are used as a main element for structuring new narratives. Tarot Theater’s first book is to be published in 2023 presenting the work of almost a decade.

Created in a laboratory, experimental specimen and escapee, Viktoria Matthews, is a female Earth creature primate wandering the metascape. She observes and can be observed by her markings and sounds.

Amelia Fletcher has been the frontwoman of an evolving series of pop groups from the 1980s to the present. Her bands included Talulah Gosh, Heavenly, Marine Research, Tender Trap, and, since 2014, The Catenary Wires.
Portuguese composer Afonso Ferreira a.k.a. FARWARMTH is a keen collaborator, as part of the duos HRNS and PURGA and the collective 00:NEKYIA.
He uses recordings of friends and family in improvised sessions with cello, flute and accordion with himself playing keyboards as sources which he then carefully processes using software.

Giulio Aldinucci (born in 1981 in Siena) is an Italian composer. He has been active for years in the field of experimental electroacoustic music and in the research on soundscape.
He composed eight albums released by the labels Karlrecords (D), 99chants (D), Home Normal (UK/J), Time Released Sound (USA), Dronarivm (RUS) and Nomadic Kids Republic (UK/J). Furthermore, he made six EPs and six collaborative albums with The Star Pillow, Ian Hawgood, Francis M. Gri, Francesco Giannico and Pleq published by Midira (D), Home Normal (UK/J), KrysaliSound (I), Dronarivm (RUS) and Eilean (F).
In addition to his contribution to various collective works, he wrote music for theatre, video art and cinema. His music is featured in many compilations, including Sound at Work – electronic music and labour created by Tempo Reale, the Italian electronic music research centre founded by Luciano Berio, and the special edition of The Wire Tapper that celebrates the 50th issue with a selection from the series' 20 year back catalogue, among others.

Panos Dimitropoulos is the frontman of The Steams. The Greek four-piece band is one of the Athens-based bands emerging from the city’s neo-psyche scene. Pulling heavily from the American acid rock that crested in the late 60s without going as far as the screeching solos filled with feedback.
Instead they settle for the more mature and mystical influences of early 70s classic psychedelia like Jefferson Airplane and The Doors. Their debut single, “Feed/Green Fire”, released in 2016, possessed a hypnotic and almost shamanic quality that seems to instantly resonate both intellectually and on a more primordial level.
Two years after their debut the band has returned with their first LP, Wild Ferment. Most of the songs are rather subdued and edge toward fusion.

These are the current favorite songs and sounds of Tad and me - which might be different again tomorrow:-) I chose the songs while melting in hot Berlin with windows wide open at night - same time Tad was recording with Spirit Fest in Munich enjoying a total different vibe than me, but our choices came together quite nice i think.

The Cool Greenhouse make repetitive, minimal DIY post-punk. Their latest 7'' single "Landlords b/w 4chan" is out now on Drunken Sailor records (video here). All profits from the single purchased from the band's bandcamp will go to the London Renters Union, a member-led, campaigning union standing up for tenant rights.

About the Mix:
Whilst we usually find ourselves overly steeped in new musical discoveries from the original DIY movement of the late 70s/early 80s (much of which we find on Jonny Zchivago's unbeatable Die or D.I.Y.? blog), for this mix we decided to focus on new DIY music from lesser-known musicians that we have had the pleasure of encountering recently.
Aside from a couple of choice cuts from mainstay favourites The Rebel & The Shadow Ring, all of the music here is from the last couple of years, mainly from the UK, and mostly released by tiny labels or self-released (if released at all). It's all top-notch stuff to our ears, and hopefully goes to show that DIY is alive and well in 2019.

A Life dedicated to music. Beautifully talented Melchior Sultana, born in Malta in 1986, is a composer and multi instrumentalist. Growing up in an atmosphere of rich traditions, culture and arts in the middle of the Mediterranean can deeply sculpt a spirit. Melchior Sultana represents music as an art with no boundaries.
As a multi instrumentalist playing Guitar, Piano and Bass, Melchior Sultana is involved in various projects from classical to contemporary to Live band and electronic music productions. Melchior Sultana performed live at some of the most prestigious places from Cafe Del Mar in Malta to Panorama Bar, Berghain, IPSE in Berlin and Rex Club Paris.
Previous works show the wide musical vocabulary of this artist and his open mentality approach to music.

The origin of the Synthetrix moniker dates back to the late 80s when I used this as a handle on computer BBS systems. The name became an umbrella identity for freelance graphic design, DJing and music creation.

Since their blown-out 2011 debut hollandaze, toronto trio odonis odonis has continued to push their sound further into the depths of post-apocalyptic experimentation. following 2016's foreboding post plague, no pop is the band's starker, more dance-floor-friendly fourth lp.
executed with precision, every sonic component of no pop commands attention.
stripping down instrumentation to a handful of synths and an electronic drum kit, the band worked quickly to write and record, bringing demos and improvised takes into the studio and completing the recording process over the course of three days. the result is a focused blend of hard-hitting industrial, techno, and noise – but each track on no pop is never just one of those elements. pulsing rhythms lay the ground for textural soundscapes masterfully woven together to create a palpable sense of doom that is thick and satisfying.

Based in the central Italian city of Terni, Japan Suicide is a four-piece comprised of Stefano Bellerba (vocals, guitar), Leonardo Mori (synth), Matteo Luciani (bass), Saverio Paiella (guitar). Formed in 2010, they united over their love of Joy Division, The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche Mode.

Jasmine Guffond focuses on electronic composition across music and sound art contexts. Her practice spans live performance, recording and the capacity of sound installation to interrogate site.
Recent projects employed digital technologies, sonification and the aesthetisation of data as a means of fostering discussion around contemporary surveillance technologies as well as producing experimental audio works.
Interested in providing an audible presence for phenomena that usually lies beyond human perception, via the sonification of facial recognition algorithms or global networks, she questions what it means for our personal habits to be traceable, and for our identities, choices and personalities to be reduced to streams of data.

Originally a classically trained pianist, Swedish electronic musician Robert Parker went from tracker music during the 90s to retro-esque the following decade. His love for analog synthesizers began when he bought a Korg Polysix in 2009, which was the starting point of the style of music he produces today.
His studio is located in Stockholm, where he creates music that ranges between everything from chiptunes to disco.
He uses a combination of hardware synthesizers and trusty VSTs, where the Roland Juno 106, The Minimoog and the SH-101 are his cornerstones.
Since 2016 he is signed to the Monstera Booking Agency, wich has worked with artists like: Giorgio Moroder, Busy P, Kavinsky, Justice, Hot Chip, Atari Teenage Riot and many others.

Ilia Rogatchevski is the frontman of the London-based art rock band ‘Sebastian Melmoth’. This mix was compiled with help and suggestions from fellow bandmates Peter Jordan and Laura Michelle Smith. Sebastian Melmoth’s latest album, Kupa Piti Kungka Tjuta is out now via Must Die Records.

Pinkcourtesyphone is a continuing project by Los Angeles-based sound artist Richard Chartier.
He is considered one of the key figures in the field of sound art described as “microsound” and Neo-Modernist. Chartier’s minimalist digital work explores the inter-relationships between the spatial nature of sound, silence, focus, perception and the act of listening itself. As Pinkcourtesyphone he has collaborated with the likes of Cosey Fanni Tutti, Kid
Congo Powers, William Basinski, and Evelina Domnitch among others.

His sets can be eclectic, ranging from mid-20th century analog-ica, to post punk synth oddities, to ambient soundscapes, to lounge-y reverberations, to contemporary electronica. Ponderous beats, melodies and noise mixed into a flowing soundtrack for you, your cocktail, and your inner ear.
​
This mix is an artificially flavoured candy sampler box of songs and sentiments that one might hear during one of Chartier's sets at his event PROCEDURE in LA.

Bersarin Quartett is the musical alter ego of Thomas Bücker. Born in 1975, Thomas Bücker has been producing electronic music since 1998 under the name Jean-Michel.
​
He first appeared as Bersarin Quartett on the “Electronica Unplugged” compilations of Aerotone Netlabel in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, he released his debut self-titled album to glowing reviews. The album "II" followed in 2012 on Denovali Records with his latest effort, “III”, appearing in 2015.
​
Bersarin Quartett’s music is an amalgam of ambient, electronic and neo-classical arrangements with a minimalistic compositional approach. Best described as ‘imaginary film music’, his work is highly emotional and engaging, in constant flux between sadness, warmth, beauty and melancholia.
The mix contains songs that inspire him and was composed during a weekend of extensive musical exploration.

Veteran NY psych-pop act Shana Falana just released her new LP Here Comes The Waves, her 2nd with Team Love Records. Emerging from New York’s vast drone/psych scene, Shana combines live looping of reverb-drenched vocals and guitar with tribal drums and stunning visual projections. Her live experience has often been described as transcendental.

Everything we see, hear and feel influences our minds and shape our perception of things. We are all interconnected in a way that the action of one affects the lives of hundreds or thousands; something as small as a song made by a person unknown in a tiny room could become an anthem to people who would relate to the feelings or thoughts expressed.
​
Many of us have experienced the power of music and its ability to strengthen the soul in difficult times and accompany us in times of happiness and joy.
The passion for discovering music have been an important part of Belgrado since the beginning. We believe that opening up the ears to a wider selection of styles and learning from them improves the quality of the music created. Elements from here and there are taken and mixed to create something new.

This playlist is a mixture of songs from a variety of genres that makes part of the little universe we listen to. This is a portion of our perspective.
This is less of a mix and more of a collage. For the most part there's at least two tracks playing at any given time (going up to four at one point I think) and it's only towards the end where I've eased up on the gas a little and put a few tracks in sequence in their entirety. No disrespect to the artists featured at all - this is all music I love - I just enjoy throwing tracks together like this and hearing something new come out of the layers.
Some parts are scavenged from a bunch of old mixes / collages I did a while back that never saw the light of day beyond a few friends and then there's tracks I've been listening to a lot recently (though not necessarily recent tracks) woven in amongst. Matt from the band says of the music on the mix, “These tracks are all new (or new-ish) things that have grabbed us over the last couple of years. There are a couple of older things on there, of course (Aldous flippin’ Huxley!) but, otherwise, it’s all pretty fresh. The music here reflects a bit more of what we listen to at home, being a bit heavier and more out there than what we’ve done ourselves up to now. But it may also point the way forwards for us a little as well… who knows. We hope you enjoy it.“
